On This Day: Spurs 5-1 Manchester United, 1965

The reigning champions were absolutely thumped by a brilliant Spurs show that included an astonishing goal by FCF-favourite James Greaves. And the consolation – a typical Charlton scuff – is alright as well, the first in a two-part series of great United consolation goals in 5-1 away defeats.

Hyper-ironically, United won by an identical score when the teams met again later in the season.
