Half time summary of each Premier League game
Manchester United 1-0 Sunderland: Utter dross. Sunderland are a poor team playing reasonably, but clearly lacking the quality to challenge United. United are, 25 years of Sir Alex Ferguson in, lacking the flair which used to define his teams. They’ve broken Sunderland with a set piece and an own goal from Wes Brown. Brown, sold this summer, clearly told by Steve Bruce, another Fergie old boy, to make sure today was a smooth anniversary for Lord Ferg.
Arsenal 2-0 West Brom: Arsenal aren’t playing well, but they’re winning because Robin Van Persie is a world-class goalscorer. As for West Brom, they have sat deep. How disappointing, given that they won this fixture 3-2 last season under Roberto Di Matteo. Hodgson: dull.
Aston Villa 1-1 Norwich City: It’s definitely time for Villa fans to remember that Alec McLeish is an ex-Birmingham City manager. They are a dull team, even at home. Given the money that they have spent, drawing games like this makes a fool of everyone involved. Norwich are good though. Paul Lambert, their Scottish manager, would be a far better bet for Villa…
Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Chelsea: Chelsea are in poor form. No wins in three. But expect them to win this in the second half because Blackburn are laughable.
Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City: Is this their year?
