Lucas Leiva out for season; this not Liverpool’s year
Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva, one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League, picked up a knee injury in Tuesday’s Carling Cup victory against Chelsea.
The injury is a serious one, to the anterior cruciate ligament. The key word in there is probably “cruciate” since it sounds like “crucial.” Anyway he’s out for the season.
Now nothing in life is certain except death and tax cuts to the obscenely rich. But without their midfield anchor, Liverpool probably aren’t going to finish in the Top Four this year.
It’s really too bad, mostly because I like Lucas Leiva. He reminds me of Yoshi from Super Mario World. I don’t know why, but there it is.

So, that reduces the “Current Liverpool Players I Like” list down to one, Craig Bellamy. It’s all on you now Craiggy.
