Relief

The 10 Downing Street Christmas tree is in situ, you will all be relieved to learn – if this crucial piece of news had escaped you until now. Apparently, tall ones are in short supply this year, which makes it all the more peculiar that someone chose to give one of them away for free (though who paid for the installation equipment is unclear). But we’re all “feeling the pinch”, obviously, and presumably the Camerons simply couldn’t afford to pay for their own – especially not since Mrs was forced to bin her job – so this bit of free advertising “pulling together” is a beautiful thing.

The right is a much more effective political movement. It’s just logical. They are afforded the best education, networks and have the most money to campaign. They control more of the media and are happy to battle for their ideas with the ends justifying the means. Just look at Fox News, or the demented climate change deniers in the Telegraph, or the campaign against the public sector pensions in the Daily Mail. But having heard Sunny Hundal on The World Tonight on Radio 4, it’s hard not to wonder if the left struggles so much mainly because some of their most prominent bloggers are so fucking thick.
