Game over. Sunderland fail to muster a proper chance in the final minutes and the size of Martin O’Neil’s task is clear. This Sunderland team aren’t bad at all, but their confidence is shot. Wolves were excellent in spells today and when it mattered, Stephen Fletcher was an excellent man to have on the end of their chances.

For me this match has been a failure because I’ve used far too many exclamation marks.

90mins. There will be four minutes of stoppage time. Is there time for an equaliser? Did she speed up to avoid walking with me or did she have somewhere to be? Questions, questions, questions!

88mins. Sunderland are being held at arms length here. What a big three points for Wolves and what a bad blow for Sunderland, who were one kick away from a 2-0 lead. It reminds me of the time when that other team did this. I’ve not been downstairs all day.

85mins. Yellow card for Bendtner as he goes in late on a Wolves player. Ryan Noble is coming on for Sessegnon, which I think is a bad decision – Why? I won’t explain myself to you.  Noble was top scorer for Sinderland’s reserves in each of the last two seasons, apparently. Get him.
