On This Day: Berbatov

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Birmingham City vs. Manchester United

On the 30th of January in the Year of Our Lord 1981, a great man was born unto us, one Dimitar Berbatov. He played professional football performance art at Bayer Leverkeusen, Tottenham Hotspur, and currently does so at Manchester United, sort of.

Now 31, the sexual maven and style icon is best known for inventing “Berbarotica”, a rather self-explanatory mode of play/state of being.

As one of us once said,

Well, there are other gods. One of them is beauty. There is such a thing and Berbatov on a football field is a wonderful example of it. He needs no other justification. It doesn’t matter how many goals he scores, or when he scores them, or what his Prozone stats are. Does he move you? Does something in your soul sing when you watch him? That’s enough. God, that’s much more than enough.

Here’s to you, Dimi.
