Fabio Capello goes rogue: “I completely disagree with the FA”
Fabio Capello has officially gone rogue, and can be classed as ‘a maverick’ after he turned on his FA bosses in an astonishing interview with Rai. The Italian criticised the FA’s decision to take the England captaincy from John Terry over his racism accusation.
Capello stated: “I completely disagree with the FA about the John Terry decision, and I have told that to the chairman.”
“I considered and still consider Terry the England captain. I think we first should wait for the trial conclusion.”
Whilst waiting for the trial conclusion makes sense – Terry has been punished without actually having been found guilty – if it were a proper workplace, Terry wouldn’t be allowed in the England setup at all until the case had been resolved.
One also wonders why Capello is so keen to defend a man who staged a virtual revolt against him in South Africa, famously giving the remarkably thick line “Just let everyone calm down and have a beer.”
