Wolves and Arsenal midfielder Frimpong out for the season
There’s not even a place on the #BEEEENCH for Emmanuel Frimpong as the 20-year old has been ruled out for the rest of the season after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament.
The tough-tackling Dame Judi fan and t-shirt salesman picked up the injury during Wolves’ 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Saturday, a repeat of the same injury he suffered back in 2010. Mick McCarthy had voiced his pessimism after the game that medical tests would herald good news, and it appears his sunny Yorkshire disposition has steered him right.
Frimpong will now return to Arsenal to begin his rehabilitation, as he joins fellow young midfielder Jack Wilshere on the sidelines. It appears that even loan spells away from the Emirates can’t prevent the Arsenal injury curse.
The midfielder had started five Premier League games after moving on loan to Wolves this season, after appearing in 14 games in all competitions for his parent club.
