Arsenal hero to return early from injury to help save their season
Arsenal will have been given a major boost ahead of the business end of the Premier League season by the news that cult hero Abou Diaby is just a few weeks away from returning from injury.
The French midfielder, somewhat higher rated in his homeland than in the Premier League, a small but dedicated following of Arsenal fans aside, is set to return to London after receiving specialist treatment in the USA and UAE. Diaby had received surgery on an ankle problem in the summer, only to be struck with his current hamstring injury just 2 short appearances into his return.
The news is about as good as it gets for Arsenal – recently, they found that their bad luck extends to the whole Premier League, after Emmanuel Frimpong’s loan to Wolves did nothing to dispel the Arsenal injury curse. Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs both returning to training should ease their full-back problems, but it is not known if they are both ready to be fully thrown back into the fray.
The Gunners have a tricky run of games ahead before Diaby returns to swell their ranks, with two visits in the Premier League and FA Cup to the Stadium of Light, in addition to a trip to the San Siro in the Champions League before a showdown with Tottenham in the North London Derby at the Emirates.
