Stuart Pearce is caretaker manager – what next?

There will be a lot of snide jokes made about Stuart Pearce in the next day, so let’s get them out of the way.

No, David James won’t play up front. No, he probably won’t use his daughter’s cuddly toy in the technical area, and yes, he probably will use the word passion. He won’t, though, do any worse than Fabio Capello. That’s not because he’s a brilliant manager or because Fabio Capello is a rubbish one.

Fabio Capello plainly is brilliant, his track record of success only faltering when having the manage the limited scrotes in the England side. Stuart Pearce is at best mediocre, but given the characters (replacing another cee word) he has in his squad, there will be nothing he can do to motivate the current England squad.

Self-assured without reason, rich without effort, stupid without trying, there’s no point in aiming for the stars when your players live in the gutter. So, let’s not comment on this whole business. Psycho is essentially a decent man out of his depth, keep silent during this period, save your fury for Harry Redknapp when he comes out with his ‘bare bones’ nonsense, because that’s what you deserve.
