Full time: Napoli 3-1 Chelsea. That isn’t going to take the pressure off Andre Villas-Boas. Still, AVB is busy speaking to his players so he doesn’t have to listen to Jamie Redknapp whinge on about how cousin Frank should have played from the start, so that should cheer him up. The problem for Chelsea isn’t their manager, it is the shocking state of their defense. Torres may have been a waste of money at £50m but he still looks far better value than the £25m sent Benfica’s way for David Luiz. Gary Cahill looks unhappy next to the Brazilian and Branislav Ivanovic looks like he has totally forgotten how to defend. Chelsea will still feel they have a chance of beating Napoli back at the Bridge, they do have an away goal, but the pressure on the side is only going to increase after this performance.
92 min Drogba chests a long ball down to Frank Lampard. The midfielder thumps a ball towards the goal but De Sanctis is always saving it. Lamps neede to deflect that off of someone.
91 min They finally work the ball to Ashley Cole in some space, he fires a cross in, but Didier Drogba does the best bit of defending by a Chelsea player all night and takes it off of Sturridge’s left foot.
90 min Chelsea finally have the ball near De Sanctis’ goal but there are too many Napoli bodies back.
89 min Chelsea look more like conceding than scoring at the moment, the ball is stuck up near Petr Cech’s box.
